The MediLodge Group proudly presents the 17th Annual Medilodge Olympics on

The 1st Official MediLodge Senior Olympics was on September 11, 2001 — a day that will live on in our hearts forever. Medilodge residents and staff started this tradition of patriotism with the 1st Senior Olympics and that continues to this day.
September was the month chosen for the Olympics for several reasons — to honor Grandparents in conjunction with Grandparents Day and the International Council of Active Aging Week. This year we have expanded our Olympics to include many different ages embracing the cultural change we are seeing in our communities. This year the 17th Annual MediLodge Olympics will be held at the Armada Fair Grounds in Armada, Michigan.
The residents have been diligently practicing for a position on the Olympic Team. MediLodge residents from around the state of Michigan will be in attendance. The Six Olympic Events include: Basketball, Kickball, Horse Shoes, Target Toss, Discus Throw, and Shot Put.
The Medilodge Olympics will begin with the Opening Ceremonies at 11:00 a.m., following the introduction of each facility’s 5 person team, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited along with the singing of The Star Spangled Banner, and the Official Olympic Torch is then lit by the oldest participating resident. Upon completion of these events, the Chefs of the MediLodge Group will treat us to an award winning luncheon, while the Official Judges tally the scores.
Closing Ceremonies begin at 2:00 p.m., when each Olympic Team member will receive an Olympic Medallion. The winning Olympic Team is then announced and presented with the Official Loving Cup Trophy to display throughout the following year. Ceremonies will end with the singing of God Bless America and the Administrator from the winning Olympic Team blows out the Official Olympic Torch.
